from a single milled block of aluminum
, and accepts standard double edge razor blades.
The native cutting angle of the blade to skin in the Tritok series is set up to be lower than all other DE razors produced today, and the series thereafter varies by the design of the guard bar; that's why they have such a low range of angles of applicable use (the flat-headed one is < +/-5°!).   It does not matter which model you choose, if you "ride the head cap" or "ride the handle" too much, you will receive no cutting action; it has to be placed just so, and in that very small zone of acceptable position, it permanently provides you a safety that all other DE razors should be envious of.
Here on the #53, the guard bar's twisted profile relative to the base of the handle provides a very small scything action toward the cutting, and while upon many historical "Slant" razors such as Merkur 37c one could effectively describe the razor as "aggressive", you should know that here it is still something of a "mild" razor, due to that very low native cutting angle as well as the position of the blade versus the plane created by the head cap and guard bar

, and the quantity of space between the blade edge and the top of the guard bar
(commonly referred to as the 'blade gap')
.   It does indeed have more aggression than the Focus Tritok R51, which could perhaps be argued as the most mild DE razor ever produced, but that's really not saying much, and the Focus R52 Concave is actually the only razor in the series which should be given the moniker of 'aggressive'.   Think of this as a mild razor with just a bit of an extra gear, which you will find useful in difficult areas such as the point of the chin.
